 Garlic

Healthy Herbs and Spices

49.  Garlic.  Garlic contains a very powerful antibacterial substance that also seems to protect against heart disease as well as cancer.

50.  Ginger. Ginger is an antidote for gastrointestinal problems and is a powerful anti-inflammatory.

51.  Cumin.  Cumin aids digestion and seems to have anti-cancer properties.

52.  Chili.  Chili reduces blood fat levels and many people swear by it for relieving arthritis pain.

53.  Cinnamon.  Cinnamon causes our blood to be “less sticky,” and thereby less likely to clot.

54.  Turmeric.  Tumeric has been long used in Cinese and Indian medicine for rheumatoid arthritis. It also is believed to protect against dementia and reduce the risk of some types of cancer.

55.  Coriander.  Coriander may lower blood-sugar levels as well as cholesterol.

Everything I’ve been reading has been in agreement on certain things - like walking, taking it easy on salt, the importance of not smoking, etc.  Oddly enough, eating garlic is often mentioned right up there with the “biggies” I just named.  I’ve been working it into a lot of dishes in my cooking, but you can (of course) get it as a supplement over the counter.

It would appear to be something worth looking into.
