Optimism and Overcoming

First of all, I have to say that the resilience of New Orleans amazes me. Of course when I say the resilience of New Orleans, I mean it’s people - they came through hell on earth, and they’re not accepting anything less from life than they did before. I love fighters and that’s exactly what they are! Blacks, whites, and colorful combinations of the two - they’re all survivors and it warms my heart to see their community healing…..

My grandmother has always had a way with words. When on her game, she could have you rolling with laughter - and it was usually when she was trying to be serious that she was the most hilarious. I say “was” simply because she is in her 80s and is in the early stages of dementia. The grandmother I knew and the one I know are very different ladies…….

Snow White and the Seven Deadly Sins

One of my most favoritest things in the world is poetry. It’s a beautiful art that paints its message with words rather than paint and molds its masterpiece with thougt rather than clay.
