- Erica Jong Quote

If I were asked to give what I consider the single most useful bit of advice for all humanity it would be this: Expect trouble as an inevitable part of life and when it comes, hold you head high, look it squarely in eye and say, 'I will be bigger than you. You cannot defeat me.'

Have you ever had the distinct pleasure of tasting Aloe Vera Juice? ("distinct pleasure" answers to the name sarcasm) If not, let me see if I can describe the taste for you. It tastes like I'd imagine the floor of a swimming pool would taste like, if one ever had cause to lick it. Yet you'll never catch the refrigerator in our house without a very large bottle.

Aloe Vera Juice, even just a couple of tablespoons, can calm an upset stomach like nothing else. Heartburn? Puts it out. Overeat? It'll make your stomach forgive you instantly. Although the taste takes some getting used to, sometimes it is "just what you need."

The same can be said about advice. It's not always what we WANT to taste, sometimes it's just what we NEED to taste.

What always throws me for a loop is when someone offers good advice but does it in a crass way. The last thing I'd want to do is take anything from such a person. However, if it's something that would benefit me in some way or help make me a better me - I'd be barking bat crazy not to listen.

Not all advice is good advice, but good advice is positively priceless.
