Guest Article Guidelines

Polar Bear and Friend

One of the reasons I love Guest Articles so much is that I love learning new things.  If I just listen to me all day, I don’t learn anything new – just things I pretty much already knew!

However, there are a few guidelines that I’ve learned that I must put in place.  I’m not a meanie, I just have the utmost respect for my friends (aka my readers) and my website.   If my name’s on something (and it’s all over my websites), it’s only fair that I get a say in what appears alongside it.

First of all, and most importantly: I am a complete, 100 percent believer in God.  I marvel that anyone could or would deny or doubt His presence – however, I will never judge that person or try to preach to them.  I’m not a preacher, God has called far, far better people to that field than me.    And as for judging?  I’ll most definitely leave that to Him.  However, I will not ever add an article to any of my websites that doubt or dispute God’s existence.  Whether it’s a reference to evolution, the big bang theory (are you even serious?), or whatever… I simply will not publish it.

There’s a catchy country song that says it best, “You can take it or leave it, but this is me… this is where I stand.”  There are a few “stances” that I might consider bending ever so slightly for – but God?  Again, are you even serious?

Second of all, and also of the utmost importance: I have less than zero tolerance for racism or bigotry.  If your words, your book, your website, your reputation… your own stance… is in any way racist or disrespectful to anyone, please don’t even bother sending me a “Hi.”  I guarantee you won’t like the response.  You see, I have absolutely no problem telling an idiot they are, indeed, an idiot.  One look around Self Help Daily lets you know right away that I’m a peace-loving person – the essence of zen and the queen of laid back. But cruelty and intolerance toward human beings or animals transform me into an overly caffeinated ninja, and I can’t hold myself responsible for what will come out of my mouth or fingertips.

Thirdly, I have to require a link back. If you have a guest post on Self Help Daily, it will include (of course) a link to your website, blog, sales page, or something of interest to you.  In the interest of fair play, I have to require a link to Self Help Daily.  Even if it’s just a post that says, “I’m a guest blogger on Self Help Daily today, go check it out!”

I love the concept of a strong Self Help Community and thrill in the thought of inviting others over to my house for visits – come early, stay late!  As I told someone in an e-mail this morning, we’re all stronger together than we are individually.  I have no problem with different people having different beliefs, and we have some spirited conversations in the comments and in e-mails.  However, if it’s going to be published on the site as content – my cat and I are very, very particular.

E-mail me  – joisigers @ aim.com if you’re interested in being a guest blogger or if you have an article you’d like to add to the article’s section (same guidelines apply).   Thanks!
