Well, hi! What a boring page to end up on, right? Due to regulations and laws (a few things I certainly want to abide by), I need to let you know a few things.
Actually, I’d share the information with you whether the FDC commanded web publishers to do so or not. It just seems like the “cool” thing to do.
I make my living completely online with my websites and blogs. I use a couple of affiliate programs to make money with my websites. Amazon is one of my favorites because… what can I say? I love Amazon. I trust them for my own shopping – as in many, many times throughout the year, so I trust them for your shopping.
If you click through and buy something I’ve told you about (whether it’s from Amazon or another affiliate program), I earn a small amount of the money you spent on the product. Very small, but let’s not go splitting hairs!
The price you pay would be the same whether you landed directly on the affiliate’s website or arrived there via my website. The transaction actually doesn’t effect you whatsoever – if it did, I simply wouldn’t do it.
I also have, over the years accepted advertising by way of text links within posts and articles or on a Resources page. I don’t do this as often any more.
I have also accepted sponsored articles before – something I plan to stop doing actually. It’s just too fine a line between allowing my readers to know what I have written and what I have not written. Until I figure out a better way, for now simply know that if my name isn’t signed to the bottom of an article (usually with a final thought and a ~ Joi), I did not write the article myself. It was written by someone else and I was paid to publish it on my website.
I would not, however, publish anything I deemed inappropriate or harmful.EVER.
As I said, this is how I make my living, but I will not ever take advantage of my readers, who I consider friends more than anything else.
Thank you for your support!
~ Joi
