Despite our best efforts, not everything in our lives will go the way we want to. Situations are bound to go against us at times, and what matters most is how we deal with things going forward. Keeping a positive mindset even in the depths of despair is key in helping us bounce back from all sorts of negativity in our minds. You have to keep in mind that your thoughts hold the key to both good and bad things, and staying focused on what matters most is the way to go at all times . Here are tips on how you can get and keep a positive frame of mind regardless of the dictates of the present moment.
1. Accept and embrace negativity
Bad things will always happen, it is the way of the world. Accept that plans will go wrong more often than not and leave some wriggle room for disappointment. This means that you have the expectation of things going wrong, and you are prepared when they do. Do not beat yourself up for things that did not go your way because if you do, you will be wasting time that should otherwise be dedicated to turning things around.
2. Put positivity reminders throughout your living and work spaces
Sometimes remembering to be positive is harder than actually being positive. Negativity is a habit, and usually a very entrenched one by the time you notice it is an issue. Far too little attention is paid to reminders of positivity. Get a feel good photo from your life printed on canvas and hang it somewhere you’ll see it often. Even better, print out a dozen and have it greet you everywhere possible. Make sure it is an image which will instantly remind you of your positivity goals, spend time selecting in then even more time cementing the purpose in your mind.
3. Accept Criticism
When people condemn us, they expose possible areas of weakness we may have overlooked. If the criticism comes from the right people and comes out in a loving, caring way, we have to look at the positive side of it. You need to believe that people criticize you because they only want the best for you. Take every parallel viewpoint positively, dissect it and look at possible areas of improvement.
4. Be accountable to yourself and to others
When negative things happen in our lives, It is easy to roll over and play the victim. While this may work some of the time, it is not reliable solution for problems in the long term. The best thing would be to think things through and take responsibility when situations go wrong. Analyze issues with the understanding that you are not perfect, and that everything can be remedied.
5. Eat right and make time for exercising
The right meals have us feeling contented and relaxed. Exercises help to release tension and fill our systems with feel-good hormones. Take time to work out alone and get rid of all the tension that is bound to build up over the course of a negative event. Go out, have fun and take part in activities such as jogging, walking in
parks and hanging out in the gym. Pick up a hobby if you can-anything to steer your mind away from negativity.
6. Surround yourself with positive people
Negativity is intoxicating and contagious. Negative people will infect you with a negative mindset. Positive people do the exact opposite of that. They encourage you, they allow you to see possibilities where there looks to be none. Reach out to friends and family and isolate the ones that inject within you a positive burst of energy. If possible, find a support group at work, in the community or even online. Share ideas and relate with situations happening around you.

Positivity is a habit that can be cultivated. Same as negativity. It’s all about being intentional about what you allow you into your life. But, these tips are on-point. Accepting the fact that bad things are bound to happen can be difficult for some people but that is the way of the world. The earlier we accept and surrender, the more peace we can have.
Overall, positivity is a choice. You’re either for or against. But, being for it brings rewards that we many never have imagined. Being grateful for the littlest things builds up immense positivity. Try it. It works.
