Don’t just stop at fast food restaurants. Studies show that family restaurants are heaping on the calories.

What’s worse is you can rarely find nutritional information. No sodium levels, no fat content and no caloric estimates.

This makes it pretty hard for anyone who’s serious about watching their weight to decipher if they’re over their daily calorie intake.

I meant it in the manner defined by Dictionary.com's third definition:
"to habituate or abandon (oneself) to something compulsively or obsessively: a writer addicted to the use of high-flown language; children addicted to video games."

You're right, it's meant more in jest than out of jest - as most people use the word these days. If I had to give up any sort of fast food (or EVEN Starbucks), I could do it - certainly easier than people who struggle with real addictions such as smoking, pornography, gambling or drinking.

However, I do feel that I have a strong, strong reliance upon caffeine! In fact, I'm CERTAIN I couldn't quit it...or even try!

Ah, another use of the term 'addict.' It is often used in jest, but I wonder if there might be something to the idea that one's body can become dependent on a high fat diet?
