In the Deep Freeze!

I have made it to what appears to be the only place in Kentucky with power – but I’m only here long enough to post on my blogs a quickie.  We’re in a state of emergency in my part of the world, thanks to a beautiful (but) untimely winter storm.

I’ve never seen a power outage this widespread.  We went to what looked to be the only hotel for miles with power last night and, wouldn’t you know it, the minute we hit the bed – out went the power!

Cold. Dang. Night.

I don’t know when we’ll get our power back, but I won’t be able to approve or reply comments for the time being.

Be back with you when I thaw out! – Joi

Gosh Joi that is just terrible. I hope it gets turned back on soon. Does this sort of thing happen every year in Kentucky? It makes me think how we take so much for granted. Our warm beds, stoves, phones, tv, computers, heat, power and water! In my religion we have been counseled so many times for years that we should be prepared with food storage. To be prepared with a backpack full of an extra set of clothes, shoes, medication, blankets, WATER, flashlight, radio with batteries and all sorts of things. So, if we have to evacuate fast we will have somethings to hold us over for a few days. But so many people aren’t prepared, INCLUDING my family. I might just have to right a blog about this. :)
Good luck and I hope to see you on your blog soon.

Hi, Keri! I’m still on the dinosaur computer at my husband’s office – and it’s still one of the only places in town with power. I can’t remember an ice storm ever being this bad. Usually, our winters are mild – with just a few heavy snowfalls. I love winter, so I usually end up wishing for more snow than we get… but I never wanted it to be like this! Our entire city, and most of Kentucky apparently, are covered with snow and ice.

I’m ready to thaw out! Thanks so much for the kind wishes!

Joi,
What an ordeal you have been through! I do hope when Monday morning shines through you are back in the pink (well, at least warm + light) again. I look forward to your next post. You are a wealth of resources for us all.
All Love,
Jan
