Hoorah, Booyah and everything ending in -ahhhh. It’s almost time for another season of American Idol. This would be ‘fessing up to an addiction to this phenomenon known as Idol. I’m not totally sure why I love it so much, after all my favorites never win. Two years ago, my faves were Jennifer Hudson and Latoya London. Last year they were Bo Bice, Constantine, Anwar and Jessica.
In fact, for the past two years, the two people who annoyed me the most won! Go figure.
At any rate, I’ll be glued to the tv each and every night it’s on. It’s just pure entertainment and I love it. There are even a few life lessons that can be plucked out of the show, if we bother plucking.
- Anything is possible. If you work hard and are willing to take risks, you might just achieve everything you ever wanted.
- You have to stand out from the crowd if you want to get anywhere. BUT, you have to stand out for all the right reasons - not to be a freak. Freaks don’t make it far in life. They get lots of attention, initially, but it goes away as soon as it came and all that’s left is a lonely freak. Sad.
- Even when you think you’re sailing along, you gotta bring it! That’s what happened to Latoya. She knew she had the greatest voice in the group, so she coasted. Right on out of the competition.
- Don’t go for a cheap imitation of someone else. It never sells.
- Life’s not always fair. And sometimes I wonder if it EVER is. Expecting fairness is akin to expecting the tooth fairy.
- There’s one born every minute!
