Memoirs of a Geisha

Ziyi Zhang and (my new girl crush) Gong Li star alongside an incredible cast in quite possibly the most beautiful movie I’ve ever seen. The acting was flawless, the direction nothing short of brilliant and the scenery and costumes were breathtaking. From the first scene to the last (which went by much too fast) I kept saying one word over and over to myself, and to my daughter beside me….Amazing.  During the scenes depicted by the photos above and below, I believe the actual words were, “Absolutely amazing.”

Below are a few pictures I’ve found of the ridiculously beautiful Chinese actress, Gong Li. Apparently she is to China what Julia Roberts is to the States.  I’m not sure what other movies she has been in, but I have to round them up and see them all – at least the ones in English!  She was amazing as the bad geisha in Memoirs and is one of the main reasons I can’t wait to see this movie again.

I generally judge movies as:

  • A waste of time – I’d have been better served by watching The Weather Channel
  • A good movie – Glad I saw it, walked away smiling.
  • A great movie that I’d love to see again. (Pride and Prejudice)
  • An awesome movie that I WILL see again (Walk the Line, Memoirs of a Geisha)

Off to scourge the internet for Gong Li information. Hmmmm, I don’t have a celeb blog…
