Self-development shouldn’t just be a dream but an achievable goal. There’s always room to improve oneself so you can become an even better version of who you used to be. No matter what aspect of your life you want to work on, the most important thing to remember is that you don’t have to go through it alone. There are so many tools that can help you make self-development a more attainable.

Indeed, like everyone else, you, too, envision yourself climbing up the ladder of life. The zest to be a better person than you previously were is there, and now it’s time to finally put that into action.

Becoming your best self is always within reach, especially with these tools to help you out.

  1. Positive Affirmations

By now, you’re perhaps already aware of how powerful the mind truly is. It’s not just used to think and to do certain things; your mind also has power over your thoughts and emotions. Often, you’ll have a higher chance of achieving something if your mind thinks and believes that you can do it.

This is the power of positive affirmations. It’s an easily understandable phrase, as it literally means flooding your mind with positive affirmations about yourself. For example, there’s that big job opening you really want to take for your career and personal growth. If you don’t believe you can do it, give your mind positive affirmations such as ‘Yes, I can do it,’ ‘Yes, I’m worthy,’ or ‘Yes, this job is for me.’ By continually telling yourself you’re capable, you’re more likely to achieve your goal without fear.

Another good practice is to look at yourself in the mirror when you say those affirmations. You can do this right before bed to cast away negative thoughts. Alternatively, you can also do it in the morning to give yourself more confidence before you start the day.

  1. Mobile Applications

Technology is truly a valuable resource to take advantage of. Smartphones are becoming the norm, and that means downloading mobile applications is something you probably do quite often as well. The good news is that you can include a list of self-development apps on your list of to-download, and there’s plenty to choose from.

The good thing about these apps is they can open you up to a whole variety of resources. Do you want to wake up every day with personal development quotes to inspire you? That’s possible. You can also go read short inspirational stories and watch related clips if you want to.

Now you can finally make better use of your free time by using it to browse through your self-development apps. Doing so is a better than spending hours on social media, where you may only wind up feeling more jealous about the seemingly perfect lives of others.

  1. Binaural Beats

If you love music, then this one’s for you. There’s such a thing known as binaural beats or sound frequency patterns that can be used for concentrating or relaxing. There are many varieties that you can listen to depending on what will best suit your needs.

Here are examples of frequency patterns and what they’re commonly used for:

  • Alpha for relaxation
  • Beta for concentration
  • Delta for a dreamless sleep
  • Theta for the REM phase, creativity, and meditation

These binaural beats are also great to play around your home or in your room. You can instantly transform any area into a zen space with music to match the ambiance.

  1. Journals

Those thoughts you’ve been keeping in your mind need a place outside of your brain. That place is your journal. Journaling can assist your personal development techniques as it helps you organize your thoughts and ease your anxiety.

You can think of writing in a journal as akin to talking to yourself. There may be dreams and aspirations in your life that you may be too shy to talk about to anyone, so why not write them down? Journals aren’t just for writers; anyone can have one. On the days when you feel down, you can always go back to your journal of personal notes.

If you’re going through counseling or life coaching, then your journal will also be a must-have. Sometimes, your life coach may write certain things down for you. Or there might be lessons learned from each session that you want to remember. Those notes are, even by themselves, extremely powerful tools.

Final Thoughts

In closing, do remember that personal development is a life-long process. Moreover, it’s not something that simply happens overnight. You must consistently work on developing a better self as you grow and go through different seasons in life. Whether on your own or with a counselor and life coach, self-development is attainable when you have the right tools to help you. It’s not yet too late to start with the help of those above. That personal itch is there, and now it’s time to take action.
