I thought it was deliciously ironic that I received this infographic to share with you on the same day I had the last post (Overcoming Fear: Truth Be Told It’s Pretty Darn Cool) scheduled. Things happen like that so often that I’m really not even surprised any more… I just think, “Meant to be,” and have another drink of coffee.

I agree it could’ve been “meant to be” 🙂
Thanks for sharing this, Joi.
I must admit I have a bit of glossophobia and acrophobia (because they’re the most common?)
I did wall climbing in the past and it is when I discovered my fear of heights, and I realized it’s on a case to case basis. I don’t have the fear when I look down the window at the 40th floor. But it comes when I’m only 30 feet up on the wall–even if I fully trust the belayer (the guy who holds the rope that’s attached to the climber).
Facing fear comes in different approaches, but it all boils down to preparing your mind for it, really. Different fears, but they are all “fear”, just the same.
Ethan, I have to admit, I’m not crazy about heights either! Claustrophobia is probably my greatest phobia, though. I think it all goes back to having to often be in “oxygen tents” as a baby and toddler. My asthma necessitated frequent hospital visits and, according to my mom, these oxygen tents terrified me for some reason. I had to have a closed MRI once that nearly caused a panic attack. I’m pretty sure this is one phobia I’ll never “beat,” but that’s ok, I’ll just stay out of tight spots! – Joi
