“Nothing Will Work Unless You Do” – Maya Angelou
As I’ve said before, I honestly believe Maya Angelou should be required reading in our schools. Not just in February (during Black History Month) either. Her eloquence, intelligence, and beautiful way of turning a phrase are remarkable. If you haven’t read any of Maya Angelou’s poetry or books, do yourself a favor and introduce yourself to this great lady’s work.
You’ll fall a little more in love with her after every word.
This particular quote is one of my favorite quotes of all time. It’s written on an index card and hangs on the cork board above my desk in my home office. It’s the perfect reminder NOT to call it a day before the work’s done. I’ve also been known to whisper it to myself on the treadmill when I’m tempted to leisurely walk instead of cranking up the speed.
Nothing….. will work….. unless…. you do…..
Basically this quote follows me around reminding me that if I’m not ready to give my all to whatever it is I’m doing, I’d better keep my mouth shut if things don’t go my way!
