Leave it to Mother Teresa to (in merely 11 words, no less) to cut to the heart of the matter. Just imagine, for a minute, the type of world we would live in if everyone loved… not as humans… but as God, Himself!
- a love that’s forgiving
- a love that doesn’t depend on the other person loving first
- a love that says, ‘I don’t love you because you’re lovable – you’re lovable because I love you.”
- a love that isn’t angry (seriously, have you ever seen so many angry people as there are in the world today?)
- a love that’s tender
I don’t have to tell you that we’re living in a world where we’re surrounded by far more hate than love. This person hates that group, that group hates this person, this party hates that party, this affiliation hates that affiliation, this group of voters hates (and even abuses!) that group of voters… and so on. And so much anger.
Sad, isn’t it? That’s not how it’s meant to be. And you know how well things work when they’re going AGAINST plan, right? They don’t work. They don’t work at all.
I have a pretty busy day lying in front of me and “get up on your soap box” isn’t on the list, so I won’t make the trip. Not today, anyway. I’ll just leave Mother Teresa’s eloquent words and go about my day.
“Love others the way that God has loved you, with tenderness.” – Mother Teresa
