So much time is spent talking about healthy foods…. super foods, even… that I’m afraid a lot of people are beginning to grow immune to the information. They see an article touting the benefits of spinach, blueberries, or walnuts and move along to the next article thinking, “I already know what foods are good for me and what foods aren’t!”
The problem is, most of us don’t know even 1/4th of what we think we know! In fact, each year NEW information comes out about the foods we “think” we know everything about. Oftentimes, this information is different from what we’ve read in the past. One food may be EVEN better for us than previously believed while another may not be quite as healthy as the reputation it once had.
Another reason to keep up to date on foods, vitamins, and minerals is this: if you have a particular disease and/or are on a particular medicine, new research may alert you to food(s) you need to avoid or food(s) you need to learn to love!
What I love most about healthy foods is the fact that they can actually help us keep from getting sick in the first place. Research shows the following foods can help prevent cancer, and while a few may be expected, a few others may surprise you.
