Life Changing Inspirational Quotes by Mother Teresa

January 8, 2019 by Joi Leave a Comment

Mother Teresa Quote About Smiling

Life is an opportunity, benefit from it.
Life is beauty, admire it.
Life is bliss, taste it.
Life is a dream, realize it.
Life is a challenge, meet it.
Life is a duty, complete it.
Life is a game, play it.
Life is a promise, fulfill it.
Life is sorrow, overcome it.
Life is a song, sing it.
Life is a struggle, accept it.
Life is a tragedy, confront it.
Life is an adventure, dare it.
Life is luck, make it.
Life is too precious, do not destroy it.
Life is life, fight for it.
~ Mother Teresa

This Mother Teresa quote about life is a sermon and an education in 16 sentences.  The simplicity of this great woman was part of her beauty.  What takes the rest of us billions upon billions of words to convey, it was a though Mother Teresa said, “Give me 16 sentences and I’ll get my point across.”

And that she did.  Every single time.  She’d have been a Twitter rock star.

More Mother Teresa Quotes:

Be faithful in small things because it is in them that your strength lies.

Intense love does not measure, it just gives.

Being unwanted, unloved, uncared for, forgotten by everybody, I think that is a much greater hunger, a much greater poverty than the person who has nothing to eat.

I want you to be concerned about your next door neighbor. Do you know your next door neighbor?

Each one of them is Jesus in disguise.

Love begins at home, and it is not how much we do… but how much love we put in that action.

One of the greatest diseases is to be nobody to anybody.

If you can’t feed a hundred people, then feed just one.

Even the rich are hungry for love, for being cared for, for being wanted, for having someone to call their own.

If we have no peace, it is because we have forgotten that we belong to each other.

Our life of poverty is as necessary as the work itself. Only in heaven will we see how much we owe to the poor for helping us to love God better because of them.

Spread love everywhere you go. Let no one ever come to you without leaving happier.

The biggest disease today is not leprosy or tuberculosis, but rather the feeling of being unwanted.

There must be a reason why some people can afford to live well. They must have worked for it. I only feel angry when I see waste. When I see people throwing away things that we could use.

We ourselves feel that what we are doing is just a drop in the ocean. But the ocean would be less because of that missing drop.

If you want a love message to be heard, it has got to be sent out. To keep a lamp burning, we have to keep putting oil in it.

Let us always meet each other with smile, for the smile is the beginning of love.

Loneliness and the feeling of being unwanted is the most terrible poverty.

We shall never know all the good that a simple smile can do.

Let us touch the dying, the poor, the lonely and the unwanted according to the graces we have received and let us not be ashamed or slow to do the humble work.

Love is a fruit in season at all times, and within reach of every hand.

Words which do not give the light of Christ increase the darkness.

Beautiful Anne Frank Quote About Making the World a Better Place

October 21, 2017 by Joi Leave a Comment

Anne Frank Quote Graphic

Anytime I hear someone bemoan the crazy, often “mean” and heartbreaking world we live in, my first thought is this: The more pain there is, the more opportunities there are.  Frankly, there are far too many people preaching, protesting, and lecturing these days without nearly enough of us rolling up our sleeves and going out on the proverbial limb to help others.

As the amazing Anne Frank said, we don’t have to wait a single moment before helping make the world a better place.  And she’s right about something else… it is wonderful.

Quote of the Day: If I Quit Now…

June 20, 2017 by Joi Leave a Comment

Don't Quit Quote Graphic

“If I quit now, I will be back to where I started, and when I started I was desperately wishing to be where I am now.” – Unknown

Before we get into just how amazing this motivational quote is, I just wanted to say that I’m going to start the Quotes of the Day tradition back up again. At least four days a week, a great quote or quote graphic will be published on Self Help Daily. I’m not sure why I stopped doing these, to be honest, but I have a feeling it had something to do with “life happening.”

That and the fact that I have a large family, home-based web publishing business, and 7 other blogs to maintain and write for. Plus, baseball pretty much consumes me from April to October.

I will do better. I promise.

I am obsessed with quotes – always have been. I’ve had a love affair with words since I first learned to speak them many moons (and suns) ago. This particular quote is a favorite and, I’m not going to lie, is one I’ve often challenged or reprimanded myself with.

We all have times in life when we just want to quit. The struggle we face or the path we’re on just seems too difficult. The “pay off” doesn’t come as quickly as we’d expected or we question if the “pay off” will even be worth the struggle.

People who are trying to eat healthier, exercise more, or complete their college studies are prime victims for the “I think I’m going to Quit” bug.  If you fall into this group (or an entirely different one for that matter), I hope you’ll remember this wonderful quote because it is absolutely 110 percent true.  There was a time you’d have LOVED to be where you are now. So you know what that means… keep going!

“If I quit now, I will be back to where I started, and when I started I was desperately wishing to be where I am now.” – Unknown

Quote About Joy: A Joyful Quote of the Day

August 19, 2016 by Joi Leave a Comment

Quote About Joy
I have a good mind to keep the picture of the beautiful girl (and her beautiful smile) above handy – so the next time I’m having an “off” day, I can just look at her. I have a feeling her megawatt smile could chase away any bad mood.

The quote, by Thich Nhat Hanh, is – in its simplicity – absolutely brilliant. Often, you can chase clouds in your psyche away simply by inviting a little sunshine into your presence with a big, beautiful smile.

Try it the next time you’re feeling a little off your game. It might just work wonders. If not, come back here and look at the doll above… I have a feeling she’ll do wonders!

Creativity is Intelligence Having Fun: Well Said, Albert Einstein

August 18, 2016 by Joi Leave a Comment

"Creativity is Intelligence Having Fun." - Albert Einstein
A while back, I was sent a new book to review on my blogs (How to Draw Cool Stuff) and while enjoying the heck out of it, I started thinking about the benefits of creativity on your mental and emotional health. Basically, getting in touch with your creative side (cooking, drawing, gardening, writing, crafting special coffee drinks, painting…) awakens an area in your brain that may have been dormant since art class in the tenth grade.

It’s never, never, never, never, never, never, never, never, never, never, never, never, never, never, never a good thing when any part of your brain is dormant.

CNN reports that taking part in creative endeavors protects neuron growth by promoting the production of new neurons – which delays dementia.  Put another way, it’s a wake up call to your brain cells – one it needs greatly. Wake up calls such as this, of course, not only keep you sharp – they also help protect you against the various forms of dementia, including Alzheimer’s Disease.

Other Ways Being More Creative is Good For You

  • Getting in touch with your creative side boosts self-confidence and even self-esteem.
  • Being creative reduces stress.
  • Drawing, cooking, gardening, painting, etc.. are excellent ways to alleviate anxiety.
  • Individuals who eat out of boredom or as a result of inactivity often find that they shave a great number of calories and even lose weight when they take up a creative new hobby.
  • If your creative new hobby involves learning new things (such as the wonderful art lesson the book pictured below provides), the mental benefits are doubled.  Learning new things is the best way to strengthen your brain and ward off mental decline, dementia, and Alzheimer’s.

If it’s been a while since you got in touch with your creative side, I hope you’ll let this serve as a motivating shot in the arm to pick up those pencils, gardening tools, coffee brewing gadgets, or paint brushes.

Your brain will thank you for it.
